Rhode Island is bracing for a surprise late winter storm. The winter storm has been named "Jonas" by the Weather Channel. Jonas is expected to bring between 4 and 8 Inches of snow to most of Rhode Island. The winter temperatures and wind chills will return. These bouncing temperature conditions can cause condensation in outside oil tanks. When the water is formed it sits on the bottom of the tank. When the water freezes it will not allow the heating fuel to flow thru the oil line. This condition will cause the oil burner to shut down. Here are some possible solutions to this situation.
There are many fuel oil additives commercially available. This product is designed to break up the water and keep your system running clean.
If the problem is reoccurring, wrapping the oil line with heat tape my help to correct this situation.
Above all, make sure you have plenty of fuel in your tank to help keep the formation of condensation down.
